The Flossettes marathon team was formed to support Dianna Robinson's brother, who at age 43, was diagnosed with colon cancer.  The Flossettes completed the Mercer Island Rotary Club's half marathon for Colon Cancer Awareness this past March.  Pictured here at the end of the event are Team Captain Dianna, Dr. Bova, Trish, Theresa, and Chris.  Not pictured are a dozen other team members (including Dianna's brother and 74 year-old mother), who were too smart to come back out into the rain to have their pictures taken.

Our featured artist was Mercer Islander  Robert Kamin (www.robertkamin.com).

Kamin’s works are saturated with a raw truth and power bled from his surroundings onto the canvas.  As a plein-air painter, he wields pure colors from chaos, often painting directly onto large canvases in attempts to synthesize his brushwork into its most organic forms through alla-prima painting.  As a classical portrait artist, he captures the model’s personality and likeness.

Dr. Bova's daughter Brooke holds a sign rooting for the Flossettes as they pass her home. She was happy to see her mom and the rest of the team as they went by, but was frankly more interested in stomping in rain puddles.

Cherie is a new artist who specializes in abstract painting. This was the first public showing of her dramatic, colorful, and entirely unique art.
